When you look at one of them you can only hear the other. Two actresses alternate in reciting the same part from Sartre’s piece “Huis clos”. A voice from the off gives instructions and reads the other parts. The panting that intrudes on this casting situation comes from two wrestlers. They stage the battle of the dialogue: the unrelenting assertion of the own self and the manifestation via a counterpart; the dependence of one’s own reality, the awareness and the identity of others; the denial and attribution of respect, love and participation in general. At the same time it is a struggle for (definatory) power and a fight against being powerless. Domination and defeat shifting fluidly.

Betrachtet man den einen, hört man den anderen nur. Zwei Schauspielerinnen sprechen im Wechsel dieselbe Rolle aus Sartres Stück “Huis clos”. Eine Stimme aus dem Off gibt Anweisungen und liest die anderen Parts. Das Keuchen, das in diese Castingsituation dringt, stammt von zwei Ringern. Sie tragen den Kampf des Dialoges aus: das unentwegte Versichern des eigenen Selbst und Erscheinens über ein Gegenüber; die Abhängigkeit der (eigenen) Realität, des Bewusstseins und der Identität von anderen; das Ab- und Zusprechen von Achtung, Liebe oder überhaupt Partizipation. Zugleich ist es aber auch ein Ringen um (Definitions-)Macht und ein Kampf gegen das Ausgeliefertsein. Das Dominieren und Unterliegen ein fliessender Wechsel.
